Quadrophenia ( 80s Mods)
I always use the Panda Icon in tribute to the WHO night shift who kept me going when I was working in backwaters of China (The land that time forgot)on 2 High speed rail projects.Highlights of China burnt corneas in both eyes due to using copy shampoo with too much alkaline in it, Kidney stones due to melamine in powdered milk and the coldest winter in living memory

Seen The The WHO twice Hyde Park and Wembley Arena

Mint & Davis in Romford for stay press trousers and Parka , button down shirts

My Favorites from the Album

Only love can make it rain
The way the beach is kissed by the sea
Only love can make it rain
Like the sweat of lovers layin' in the fields

Love, reign o'er me
Love, reign o'er me
Rain on me, rain on me

Only love can bring the rain
That makes you yearn to the sky
Only love can bring the rain
That falls like tears from on high

Love, reign o'er me
Rain on me, rain on me
Love, reign o'er me
Rain on me, rain on me

On the dry and dusty road
The nights we spend apart alone
I need to get back home to cool, cool rain

I can't sleep, and I lay, and I think
The night is hot and black as ink
Oh God, I need a drink of cool, cool rain

Love, reign o'er me
Reign o'er me, o'er me, o'er me
Love, reign o'er me, o'er me
Love

Syders so many different fashions in the late 70s and early 80s (Probably the same for everyone's youth no matter what the years)

Patrick Murray - Mickey Pierce in Only Fools and Horses was in it too...must have been a minor role though. He went to the same school as me!

Yes, this film got me into Mod... I was born in 72 so it was one of my favourites

Longer than 4 - College Boy, Side Parting and a Boston, Tonic suit or White or Dark Green Levi Sta-Prest, a Ben or Arnold Palmer shirt, Solatios or Royals, Bona Fide Crombie, Paisley scarf....the look worked well later on for Mod too.

Re: Quadrophenia ( 80s Mods)
67 - I remember a Skinhead revival in '76. It was good for a while then it started to get political and most turned into what we called Boneheads and were a scruffy bunch. We had many fights with them around Brick Lane. Most suedeheads/skinheads that I knew, the smarter dressed one's anyway, drifted into Mod. I never heard the term Rude Boy, other than older Jamaicans using it, until after the Two Tone thing started. I remember a lot of Tonic suits being worn on the UP terraces, then Parkas en masse and then the MA1 appearing..... Grant Fleming, if my memory is correct, was responsible for that one. Within weeks MA1's were everywhere. Silvermans made a fortune out of West Ham fans at that time.

Carnaby always used to be a fortnightly trip for us... (late 70's early 80's) ... great days up there... Melandi, The Merc and Shelleys for your shoes... up the staircase to the birds nest for the record shops ... hoping the NF skins were not in attendance

Mrs Bungo and Bungo Junior #1 saw Phil Davis a couple of days ago in a play at the Pinter theatre in London.

On stage, acting and that you understand..

Loafer. Skin heads , rude boys moved into full on Mod as I recall. I forget about the tonic suits in M&D

67 - It was Mintz & Davis. We used to go there for Tonic trousers and Ben's.

Me and a few mates were Suedeheads when the original album came out and started calling ourselves Mods. A few of them then became Soulboys, a few got in to Punk a couple years later but most drifted back into being Suedeheads by early '76, followed The Jam and The Ruts around and bought scooters by early '78. We went down to Brighton for the Quadrophenia filming but only one got in to the film when they filmed the masses on the promenade.

67... It was almost worth taking a few size 10 DMs up me arse over the years... was a young teen 12/13 when the revival first hit but stayed with it enough to have some great fun (lambretta' scooter runs, mod and soul dos) ...and like I said it never leaves you... Best times of my life...even if it did involve more violence than I ever saw at football !!

Re: Quadrophenia ( 80s Mods)
I born in the 70s so too young to remember the real mod movement, however I was addicted to this film from my young teenage years. Great film and still regularly listen to the soundtrack..

“I'm the hippiest number in town and I'll tell you why..”
“Put on your high heel sneakers...”

Re: Quadrophenia ( 80s Mods)
Loved the movie version, Phil Daniels was superb and touted as the next Brit to be a big star but never really took the next step, Sting was the cool bloke, also had Toyah and Ray Winstone in at as was that bloke from the Bill and a few others who went on to become regular TV and film actors.

Introduced a whole new generation to the timeless music of the Who, still a great movie to watch.
